While he was speaking with the people, joking and making them laugh, the Prophet ﷺ poked him in the side with a stick. He said, "Let me retaliate against you."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Take your retaliation."He said, "You are wearing a shirt, but I was not wearing one."So the Prophet ﷺ lifted his shirt, and the man embraced him and began kissing his side, saying, "This is all I wanted, Messenger of Allah."
حدثنا عمرو بن عون أخبرنا خالد عن حصين عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى
بينما هو يحدث القوم وكان فيه مزاح بينا يضحكهم فطعنه النبي ﷺ في خاصرته بعود فقال أصبرني فقال اصطبر قال إن عليك قميصا وليس علي قميص فرفع النبي ﷺ عن قميصه فاحتضنه وجعل يقبل كشحه قال إنما أردت هذا يا رسول الله

[Sahih] Tabarani narrated it: 1/205, 206, no. 556, from the hadith of Amr bin Awn, with this chain, and Hakim declared it sahih: 3/288, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
