The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon us while I was a boy among other boys. He greeted us, then took my hand and sent me on an errand. He sat in the shade of a wall, or he said by a wall, until I returned to him.
حدثنا ابن المثنى حدثنا خالد يعني ابن الحارث حدثنا حميد قال
انتهى إلينا رسول الله ﷺ وأنا غلام في الغلمان فسلم علينا ثم أخذ بيدي فأرسلني برسالة وقعد في ظل جدار أو قال إلى جدار حتى رجعت إليه
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on greeting children and women, hadith no. 3700, from the hadith of Humayd Tawil through this route, in abridged form. Humayd narrated with "an" (indicating a possible break in the chain), but the hadith of Muslim, no. 2482, serves in its place.
