A man came, Uthman said it was Saad, and stood at the door of the Prophet ﷺ seeking permission to enter. He stood at the door, Uthman said facing the door directly, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Move this way or that way, for seeking permission has been prescribed because of the gaze."
[Hasan]. Bayhaqi reported it in Shuab al-Iman, no. 8825, from the hadith of Abu Dawud through him, and it is also in Musannaf Ibn Abu Shayba, 8/569, though its chain is daif because Amash used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana). The preceding hadith makes it unnecessary anyway.
