I came to Ibn Umar after he had freed a slave of his. He picked up a stick or something similar from the ground and said, "I have no more reward in freeing him than the worth of this. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever slaps his slave or strikes him, his expiation is to set him free.'"
