He slaughtered a sheep and asked, "Have you sent some to my Jewish neighbor? For I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Jibreel kept advising me about the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir.'"
حدثنا محمد بن عيسى حدثنا سفيان عن بشير أبي إسمعيل عن مجاهد
أنه ذبح شاة فقال أهديتم لجاري اليهودي فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول ما زال جبريل يوصيني بالجار حتى ظننت أنه سيورثه
[Its isnad is sahih] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Righteousness and Kinship Ties, the chapter on what has been said regarding the right of the neighbor, hadith no. 1943, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, transmitted through him, in which he explicitly stated hearing it. Tirmidhi said, hasan gharib. Mujahid explicitly stated hearing it in Ibn Mubarak's Al-Birr wal-Sila, hadith no. 247.
