Sourcing, [hasan] Ibn Majah reported it in Kitab Adab, chapter, "The One Consulted Is Trusted," hadith 3745, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Bukayr, with this wording. Tirmidhi said, hadith 2822, hasan. Abdul-Malik bin Umayr was a mudallis (3/84) and he used ambiguous transmission wording (an'ana), and Hakim graded it sahih (4/131) as meeting the standard of the two Shaykhs, and he was seconded in this. There is a hasan corroborating witness in Ikram al-Dayf by Abu Ishaq Harbi (99).
