Ayesha said, "I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laugh so heartily that I could see the back of his throat. He would only smile. Whenever he saw a cloud or felt a wind, the change would show on his face."I said, "Messenger of Allah, when people see clouds they rejoice, hoping for rain, but I see that when you notice them, your face shows displeasure."He replied, "Ayesha, what assurance do I have that there is no punishment in it? A people were once punished by the wind, and a people saw the punishment and said, 'This is a cloud bringing us rain.'" [Ahqaf 46:24]
حدثنا أحمد بن صالح حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب أخبرنا عمرو أن أبا النضر حدثه عن سليمان بن يسار
أنها قالت ما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ قط مستجمعا ضاحكا حتى أرى منه لهواته إنما كان يتبسم وكان إذا رأى غيما أو ريحا عرف ذلك في وجهه فقلت يا رسول الله الناس إذا رأوا الغيم فرحوا رجاء أن يكون فيه المطر وأراك إذا رأيته عرفت في وجهك الكراهية فقال يا عائشة ما يؤمنني أن يكون فيه عذاب قد عذب قوم بالريح وقد رأى قوم العذاب فقالوا هذا عارض ممطرنا
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir, Surah Ahqaf, chapter "His saying, then when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys," no. 4828, and Muslim in the prayer for rain, chapter "Seeking refuge upon seeing wind and clouds, and rejoicing at rain," no. 899/16, from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, with the same wording.
