Talq reported that he was among the People of the Suffah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Come with us to Ayesha's house."So we went, and he said, "Ayesha, give us something to eat."She brought some herbs, and we ate.Then he said, "Ayesha, give us something to eat."She brought a dish of hays the size of a sand grouse, and we ate.Then he said, "Ayesha, give us something to drink."She brought a large bowl of milk, and we drank.Then he said, "Ayesha, give us something to drink."She brought a small cup, and we drank.Then he said, "If you wish, you may spend the night here, and if you wish, you may go to the mosque."He said, While I was lying on my stomach in the mosque before dawn, a man began nudging me with his foot and said, "This is a manner of lying that Allah dislikes."I looked up, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا معاذ بن هشام قال حدثني أبي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير قال حدثنا أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
كان أبي من أصحاب الصفة فقال رسول الله ﷺ انطلقوا بنا إلى بيت عائشة رضي الله عنها فانطلقنا فقال يا عائشة أطعمينا فجاءت بحشيشة فأكلنا ثم قال يا عائشة أطعمينا فجاءت بحيسة مثل القطاة فأكلنا ثم قال يا عائشة اسقينا فجاءت بعس من لبن فشربنا ثم قال يا عائشة اسقينا فجاءت بقدح صغير فشربنا ثم قال إن شئتم بتم وإن شئتم انطلقتم إلى المسجد قال فبينما أنا مضطجع في المسجد من السحر على بطني إذا رجل يحركني برجله فقال إن هذه ضجعة يبغضها الله قال فنظرت فإذا رسول الله ﷺ
[Sahih] Reported by Ibn Majah, in the Book of Manners, chapter on the prohibition of lying on one's face, no. 3723, no. 752, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir with this wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1960, and it has a corroborating witness in Ibn Hibban, no. 1959. Hakim graded it sahih according to the criterion of Muslim, 4/271, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
