A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, give me a mount to ride."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I will give you the offspring of a she-camel to ride."The man said, "What would I do with the offspring of a she-camel?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do camels give birth to anything other than she-camels?"
حدثنا وهب بن بقية أخبرنا خالد عن حميد
أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله احملني قال النبي ﷺ إنا حاملوك على ولد ناقة قال وما أصنع بولد الناقة فقال النبي ﷺ وهل تلد الإبل إلا النوق
Its chain is daif. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Righteousness and Maintaining Ties, chapter on what has been said about joking, hadith 1991, from Khalid bin Abdullah Wasiti, with this same wording, and he said, "Hasan sahih gharib." Baghawi also graded it sahih in Sharh al-Sunnah, hadith 3605.Humayd Tawil is a mudallis, and I did not find an explicit statement of his having heard it directly.
