Abu Dawud 4992

Muslim narrated it, in the Introduction, chapter on the prohibition of reporting everything one hears, hadith no. 5, from the hadith of Ali bin Hafs, through this route, and he alone narrated it, as Abu Dawud and others said. In some copies of Sahih Muslim there appears an error made by the copyists, and some scholars used it to refute Abu Dawud, may Allah have mercy on him, but this refutation is itself rejected.
