The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Name yourselves with my name, but do not take my kunya as your own."
حدثنا مسدد وأبو بكر بن أبي شيبة قالا حدثنا سفيان عن أيوب السختياني عن محمد بن سيرين
قال رسول الله ﷺ تسموا باسمي ولا تكتنوا بكنيتي
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on the prohibition of using Abu Qasim as a kunya, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, and this is also in al-Musannaf, 8/483. Bukhari also narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, and so on, hadith 2134, "Name yourselves with my name, but do not take my kunya," hadith 6188, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with the same chain.
