The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Is any one of you incapable of being like Abu Damdam?"They asked, "Who is Abu Damdam?"He replied, "A man among those who came before you," and he gave the same meaning, saying, "My honor is freely given to whoever insults me."

Its chain is daif. Khatib narrated it in Al-Muwaddih (1/27) from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama with this wording. Abdul-Rahman bin Ajlan is majhul al-hal (of unknown status), the chain is mursal, and Muhammad bin Abdullah Ummi is lenient in hadith.
