A beggar passed by Ayesha, and she gave him a piece of bread. Then a man passed by her wearing fine clothes and of dignified appearance, and she seated him so that he ate with her. When she was asked about this, she said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Treat people according to their stations.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن إسمعيل وابن أبي خلف أن يحيى بن اليمان أخبرهم عن سفيان عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت

[Its chain is daif] Bayhaqi transmitted it in al-Adab, hadith no. 322, from the hadith of Abu Dawud, through this route. Habib bin Abu Thabit narrated it using "an" (indicating a break in the chain), and Muslim pointed to the weakness of this hadith at the beginning of the introduction to his Sahih, p. 7.
