The Prophet ﷺ passed by a man from the Ansar who was admonishing his brother about being too modest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave him, for modesty is part of faith."
حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك عن ابن شهاب عن سالم بن عبد الله
أن النبي ﷺ مر على رجل من الأنصار وهو يعظ أخاه في الحياء فقال رسول الله ﷺ دعه فإن الحياء من الإيمان
Bukhari related it in the Book of Faith, chapter "Modesty is Part of Faith," no. 24, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain, and it is also in Muwatta (Yahya's version): 2/905. Muslim also related it, no. 36, from the hadith of Ibn Shihab Zuhri through this same chain.
