The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let me not find any of you reclining on his couch, when one of my commands or prohibitions reaches him, saying, 'We do not know. Whatever we found in the Book of Allah, we followed it.'"
[Sahih]. Narrated by Tirmidhi in the Book of Knowledge, the chapter on what has been forbidden to be said regarding a hadith of the Messenger of Allah, no. 2663, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, as above. He said, "Hasan sahih." Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 13, as did Hakim, who said it meets the conditions of the two Shaykhs, 1/108, 109, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It is 109, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It is also found in Musnad Ahmad (Atraf Musnad, 6/218).
