Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrust to you anything which he did not entrust to people in general?Ali replied, "No, except for what is in this document of mine."Musaddad's version says, "He then brought out a document," while Ahmad's version says, "a document from the sheath of his sword." In it was written, "The believers are equal in their blood. They stand united against all others. The lowest of them may grant protection on behalf of them all. No believer shall be killed in retaliation for an unbeliever, nor shall one bound by a covenant be killed during his covenant. Whoever commits an offense bears it himself, and whoever commits an offense or shelters an offender, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people."Musaddad, narrating from Ibn Abu Aruba, said, "He brought out a document."
