The pillars of the Prophet's ﷺ mosque, during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, were made from the trunks of date palms, with its roof shaded by palm branches. They then decayed during the caliphate of Abu Bakr, so he rebuilt them using palm trunks and palm branches. They decayed again during the caliphate of Uthman, so he rebuilt them with baked bricks, and they have remained standing firm until now.

أن مسجد النبي ﷺ كانت سواريه على عهد رسول الله ﷺ من جذوع النخل أعلاه مظلل بجريد النخل ثم إنها نخرت في خلافة أبي بكر فبناها بجذوع النخل وبجريد النخل ثم إنها نخرت في خلافة عثمان فبناها بالآجر فلم تزل ثابتة حتى الآن
