With his chain of narration and to the same meaning, in this version it states that after the beating, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Rebuke him."So they turned to him saying, "Have you no fear of Allah? Have you no dread of Allah? Have you no shame before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Then they let him go. At the end of it he said, "Rather, say, 'O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him.'"Some of them add a word or something similar.
حدثنا محمد بن داود بن أبي ناجية الإسكندراني حدثنا ابن وهب أخبرني يحيى بن أيوب وحيوة بن شريح وابن لهيعة
بإسناده ومعناه قال فيه بعد الضرب ثم قال رسول الله ﷺ لأصحابه بكتوه فأقبلوا عليه يقولون ما اتقيت الله ما خشيت الله وما استحييت من رسول الله ﷺ ثم أرسلوه وقال في آخره ولكن قولوا اللهم اغفر له اللهم ارحمه وبعضهم يزيد الكلمة ونحوها
