The Prophet ﷺ was on a journey, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned aside, and I turned aside with him. He said, "Look."I said, "There is a rider. There are two riders. There are three," until we became seven. He said, "Keep watch over our prayer for us," meaning the dawn prayer. Then sleep overcame their ears, and nothing woke them but the heat of the sun. They got up and traveled a short distance, then dismounted and performed ablution. Bilal called the adhan, and they prayed the two units before dawn, then they prayed the dawn prayer and mounted their animals. Some of them said to one another, "We have been negligent regarding our prayer."The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no negligence in sleep. Negligence is only in wakefulness. So whenever any of you forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, and on the following day at its proper time."
