The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Anas, people will found cities, and one of those cities will be called Basra, or Busayra. If you pass by it or enter it, beware of its salt flats, its dockyards, its marketplaces, and the gates of its rulers. Stick to its outskirts, for it will experience earthquakes, pelting from the sky, and tremors, and there will be a people who go to sleep at night and wake up as monkeys and pigs."
