I returned to my family at night, and my hands had become cracked, so they rubbed me with saffron. In the morning I went to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him, but he did not return my greeting nor welcome me. He said, "Go and wash this off yourself."So I went and washed it off, then came back, though some traces of it still remained on me. I greeted him, but he did not return my greeting nor welcome me. He said, "Go and wash this off yourself."So I went and washed it off, then came back and greeted him. This time he returned my greeting and welcomed me, and said, "The angels do not attend the funeral of a disbeliever with any good, nor someone smeared with saffron, nor someone in a state of major ritual impurity."He said that a person in major ritual impurity is permitted, if he wishes to sleep, eat, or drink, to perform ablution.

قدمت على أهلي ليلا وقد تشققت يداي فخلقوني بزعفران فغدوت على النبي ﷺ فسلمت عليه فلم يرد علي ولم يرحب بي وقال اذهب فاغسل هذا عنك فذهبت فغسلته ثم جئت وقد بقي علي منه ردع فسلمت فلم يرد علي ولم يرحب بي وقال اذهب فاغسل هذا عنك فذهبت فغسلته ثم جئت فسلمت عليه فرد علي ورحب بي وقال إن الملائكة لا تحضر جنازة الكافر بخير ولا المتضمخ بالزعفران ولا الجنب قال ورخص للجنب إذا نام أو أكل أو شرب أن يتوضأ
