Abdullah bin Masud reported,

"Allah has cursed women who tattoo and women who seek to be tattooed."Muhammad added, "and women who add hair extensions."Uthman added, "and women who pluck their facial hair."Then they both agreed on, "and women who file their teeth for beauty, altering the creation of Allah ."News of this reached a woman from the tribe of Banu Asad named Umm Yaqub.Uthman added, "who used to recite the Quran."Then they both agreed. She came to him and said, "It has reached me that you have cursed women who tattoo and women who seek to be tattooed,"Muhammad's version, "and women who add hair extensions,"Uthman's version, "and women who pluck their facial hair,"Then they both agreed, "and women who file their teeth,"Uthman's version added, "for beauty, altering the creation of Allah the Exalted."He replied, "Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed, and who are mentioned in the Book of Allah the Exalted?"She said, "I have read what is between the two covers of the Mushaf and I did not find it."He said, "By Allah, if you had truly read it, you would have found it." Then he recited, "Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it" [Hashr 59:7].She said, "I see some of this on your wife."He said, "Go in and look."She went in, then came out.He asked, "What did you see?"Uthman's version, She said, "I saw nothing."He said, "Had that been so, she would not be with us."

عن عبد الله قال

لعن الله الواشمات والمستوشمات قال محمد والواصلات وقال عثمان والمتنمصات ثم اتفقا والمتفلجات للحسن المغيرات خلق الله عز وجل فبلغ ذلك امرأة من بني أسد يقال لها أم يعقوب زاد عثمان كانت تقرأ القرآن ثم اتفقا فأتته فقالت بلغني عنك أنك لعنت الواشمات والمستوشمات قال محمد والواصلات وقال عثمان والمتنمصات ثم اتفقا والمتفلجات قال عثمان للحسن المغيرات خلق الله تعالى فقال وما لي لا ألعن من لعن رسول الله ﷺ وهو في كتاب الله تعالى قالت لقد قرأت ما بين لوحي المصحف فما وجدته فقال والله لئن كنت قرأتيه لقد وجدتيه ثم قرأ {وما آتاكم الرسول فخذوه وما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا} قالت إني أرى بعض هذا على امرأتك قال فادخلي فانظري فدخلت ثم خرجت فقال ما رأيت وقال عثمان فقالت ما رأيت فقال لو كان ذلك ما كانت معنا
