Abu Talha reported,

I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image."He then said, "Let us go to Umm Muiminin Ayesha and ask her about this."So we went, and I said, "Umm Muiminin, Abu Talha narrated to us such and such from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Did you hear the Prophet ﷺ mention this?"She replied, "No, but I will tell you what I saw him do. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out on one of his expeditions, and I was anxiously awaiting his return. I took a patterned cloth we had and draped it as a curtain across the doorway. When he arrived, I went out to meet him and said, 'Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Praise be to Allah, who has granted you might and honor.'He looked into the room and saw the cloth, but he did not respond to me, and I saw displeasure on his face. He went over to the cloth and tore it down, then said, 'Allah has not commanded us, regarding what He has provided for us, to clothe stones and bricks.'"She said, "So I cut it up and made it into two cushions, stuffing them with palm fiber, and he did not object to that."

حدثنا وهب بن بقية أخبرنا خالد عن سهيل يعني ابن أبي صالح عن سعيد بن يسار الأنصاري عن زيد بن خالد الجهني

عن أبي طلحة الأنصاري قال

سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول لا تدخل الملائكة بيتا فيه كلب ولا تمثال وقال انطلق بنا إلى أم المؤمنين عائشة نسألها عن ذلك فانطلقنا فقلنا يا أم المؤمنين إن أبا طلحة حدثنا عن رسول الله ﷺ بكذا وكذا فهل سمعت النبي ﷺ يذكر ذلك قالت لا ولكن سأحدثكم بما رأيته فعل خرج رسول الله ﷺ في بعض مغازيه وكنت أتحين قفوله فأخذت نمطا كان لنا فسترته على العرض فلما جاء استقبلته فقلت السلام عليك يا رسول الله ورحمة الله وبركاته الحمد لله الذي أعزك وأكرمك فنظر إلى البيت فرأى النمط فلم يرد علي شيئا ورأيت الكراهية في وجهه فأتى النمط حتى هتكه ثم قال إن الله لم يأمرنا فيما رزقنا أن نكسو الحجارة واللبن قالت فقطعته وجعلته وسادتين وحشوتهما ليفا فلم ينكر ذلك علي
