A robe of fine striped silk was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he sent it to me. I wore it and went to him, but I saw anger in his face.He said, "I did not send it to you for you to wear it."He then instructed me to distribute it among my women.
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب حدثنا شعبة عن أبي عون قال سمعت أبا صالح يحدث
أهديت إلى رسول الله ﷺ حلة سيراء فأرسل بها إلي فلبستها فأتيته فرأيت الغضب في وجهه وقال إني لم أرسل بها إليك لتلبسها وأمرني فأطرتها بين نسائي
Muslim collected it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the prohibition of wearing silk and similar things for men, hadith no. 2071, from the hadith of Shubah with the same chain. Abu Salih Hanafi is Abdul-Rahman bin Qays, and Abu Awn is Muhammad bin Ubaydullah Thaqafi.
