He reported from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever eats a meal and then says, 'Praise be to Allah who has fed me this food and provided it for me without any power or strength of my own,' his past and future sins will be forgiven."He said, "And whoever wears a garment and says, 'Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any power or strength of my own,' his past and future sins will be forgiven."
حدثنا نصير بن الفرج حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد حدثنا سعيد يعني ابن أبي أيوب عن أبي مرحوم
عن أبيه أن رسول الله ﷺ قال من أكل طعاما ثم قال الحمد لله الذي أطعمني هذا الطعام ورزقنيه من غير حول مني ولا قوة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر قال ومن لبس ثوبا فقال الحمد لله الذي كساني هذا الثوب ورزقنيه من غير حول مني ولا قوة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر
[Hasan] Tirmidhi narrated it in Dawaat, the chapter on what to say when finishing eating, hadith 3458, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Yazid with this wording, and he said, "hasan gharib." Ibn Majah also narrated it, hadith 3285, and Hakim graded it sahih (4/192, 193), but Dhahabi rejected this and said, "Abu Marhum is daif, and he is Abdul-Rahim bin Maymun."Note: Abu Marhum is hasan al-hadith, and the majority of scholars deemed him trustworthy.
