The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who frees a slave at the time of death is like the one who gives a gift only after he has eaten his fill."
حدثنا محمد بن كثير حدثنا سفيان عن أبي إسحق عن أبي حبيبة الطائي
قال رسول الله ﷺ مثل الذي يعتق عند الموت كمثل الذي يهدي إذا شبع
[Its chain is hasan] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Bequests, chapter on what has been said about a man who gives charity or frees a slave at the point of death, hadith no. 2123, from the hadith of Sufyan with this same chain, and he said, hasan sahih. Nasai also narrated it, hadith no. 3644, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 1219, as did Hakim, 2/213, with Dhahabi concurring, and Hafiz graded it hasan in Fath al-Bari, 5/374. Shubah also narrated it from Abu Ishaq with this same chain.Abu Habibah, his hadith is hasan according to the most correct view.
