We passed by a stream, so I entered it and bathed. I came out with a fever, and word of this reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Tell Abu Thabit to seek refuge through ruqyah."She said, I asked, "My master, are incantations permissible?"He replied, "There is no ruqyah except for the evil eye, a sting, or a venomous bite."

[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Ahmad narrated it in 3/486, and Nasai in Al-Kubra, no. 10086, 10873, and in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla, no. 257, 1034, from the hadith of Abdul-Wahid, through this route. Al-Hakim graded it sahih in 4/413, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and part of the hadith has corroborating narrations.Rabab, her hadith is hasan according to the more correct view.
