The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you eats, he should not wipe his hand with a napkin until he has licked it clean or had it licked clean."
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن ابن جريج عن عطاء
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا أكل أحدكم فلا يمسحن يده بالمنديل حتى يلعقها أو يلعقها
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks, Chapter on the Recommendation of Licking the Fingers and the Bowl etc., no. 2031, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, and Bukhari, in the Book of Foods, Chapter on Licking and Sucking the Fingers Before Wiping Them with a Napkin, no. 5456, from the hadith of Ata bin Abu Rabah, through the same chain.
