We were with the Prophet ﷺ when he asked for something to drink. A man from the group said, "Shall we give you some nabidh to drink?"He replied, "Yes."So the man hurried off and brought back a cup of nabidh. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Why did you not cover it, even by laying a stick across it?"
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا الأعمش عن أبي صالح
كنا مع النبي ﷺ فاستسقى فقال رجل من القوم ألا نسقيك نبيذا قال بلى قال فخرج الرجل يشتد فجاء بقدح فيه نبيذ فقال النبي ﷺ ألا خمرته ولو أن تعرض عليه عودا
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks, chapter "On Drinking Nabidh and Covering the Vessel," hadith no. 2011, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya al-Darir, and Bukhari, in the Book of Drinks, chapter "Drinking Milk," etc., hadith no. 5605, from the hadith of Amash, with the same wording.
