The Prophet ﷺ said, "The hand is responsible for what it has taken until it returns it." Then Hasan forgot this and said, "He is your trustee, and there is no liability upon him."
حدثنا مسدد بن مسرهد حدثنا يحيى عن ابن أبي عروبة عن قتادة عن الحسن
عن النبي ﷺ قال على اليد ما أخذت حتى تؤدي ثم إن الحسن نسي فقال هو أمينك لا ضمان عليه
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Tirmidhi related it, Buyu, chapter on what has been said about the fact that a borrowed item must be returned, no. 1266, and Ibn Majah, no. 2400, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, with this wording. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 1024, as did Hakim, according to the criterion of Bukhari, 2/47, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih."
