The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever finds his exact property in the possession of another man has the greater right to it, and the buyer may seek recourse from the one who sold it to him."
حدثنا عمرو بن عون حدثنا هشيم عن موسى بن السائب عن قتادة عن الحسن
قال رسول الله ﷺ من وجد عين ماله عند رجل فهو أحق به ويتبع البيع من باعه
[Its chain is daif] Nasai reported it in al-Buyu, chapter: The man who sells something claimed by another, no. 4685, from the hadith of Amr bin Awn, transmitted through him. Qatada narrated it using "an" (indicating possible discontinuity in transmission).
