The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are three whom Allah will not speak to on the Day of Resurrection. A man who withholds from a traveler the surplus water he has, a man who swears an oath over merchandise after Asr, meaning falsely, and a man who pledges allegiance to a leader, so that if the leader gives him something he honors the pledge, but if he gives him nothing he does not honor it."The narrator added, "Nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful punishment." And regarding the merchandise, he said that the man swears, "By Allah, I was offered such and such for it," and the other man believes him and buys it.
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا جرير عن الأعمش بإسناده ومعناه قال ولا يزكيهم ولهم عذاب أليم وقال في السلعة بالله لقد أعطي بها كذا وكذا فصدقه الآخر فأخذها
