Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman reported that Abu Hurayra informed him that while Umar bin Khattab was delivering the Friday sermon, a man entered.Umar said, "Are you holding back from the prayer?"The man replied, "I did nothing more than this. As soon as I heard the call to prayer, I performed ablution."Umar said, "Just ablution as well? Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When one of you comes to the Friday prayer, let him perform a full bath'?"
حدثنا أبو توبة الربيع بن نافع أخبرنا معاوية
أخبرنا أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن أن أبا هريرة أخبره أن عمر بن الخطاب بينا هو يخطب يوم الجمعة إذ دخل رجل فقال عمر أتحتبسون عن الصلاة فقال الرجل ما هو إلا أن سمعت النداء فتوضأت فقال عمر والوضوء أيضا أو لم تسمعوا رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا أتى أحدكم الجمعة فليغتسل
