A man was wounded during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then he had a wet dream. He was instructed to perform the full bath, so he bathed and died. When news of this reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "They killed him, may Allah destroy them. Was not the cure for ignorance simply to ask?"
[Sahih] Ibn Majah reported it in the Book of Purification, Chapter on the wounded person who experiences janaba and fears for his life if he performs ghusl, hadith no. 572, and Ahmad, 1/330, and Hakim, 1/178, from the hadith of Uzai through this chain.Uzai heard it from Ataa, who heard it from a man, from him. The hadith has other paths with Bayhaqi (1/226, 227) and others. Bishr bin Bakr is trustworthy, and the statement of Muslima bin Qasim regarding him is rejected.
