The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to equip an army, but the camels ran out, so he instructed him to take from the young camels of the zakat. He would take one camel in exchange for two, to be repaid from the zakat camels.
حدثنا حفص بن عمر حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن محمد بن إسحق عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن مسلم بن جبير عن أبي سفيان عن عمرو بن حريش
أن رسول الله ﷺ أمره أن يجهز جيشا فنفدت الإبل فأمره أن يأخذ في قلاص الصدقة فكان يأخذ البعير بالبعيرين إلى إبل الصدقة
[Hasan] Reported by Ahmad: 2/171 from the hadith of Amr bin Hurayth, and Daraqutni: 3/70 from the hadith of Abu Dawud with it, and the hadith has corroborating narrations.
