Samura reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and asked, "Is anyone here from the tribe of so-and-so?" No one answered him.He asked again, "Is anyone here from the tribe of so-and-so?" Again no one answered.He asked a third time, "Is anyone here from the tribe of so-and-so?" A man stood up and said, "I am, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "What kept you from answering me the first two times? I did not call out for you except for something good. Your companion is held back from Paradise by his debt." I then saw the man pay it off on his behalf until no one remained who had any claim against him.

عن سمرة قال

خطبنا رسول الله ﷺ فقال هاهنا أحد من بني فلان فلم يجبه أحد ثم قال هاهنا أحد من بني فلان فلم يجبه أحد ثم قال هاهنا أحد من بني فلان فقام رجل فقال أنا يا رسول الله فقال ﷺ ما منعك أن تجيبني في المرتين الأوليين أما إني لم أنوه بكم إلا خيرا إن صاحبكم مأسور بدينه فلقد رأيته أدى عنه حتى ما بقي أحد يطلبه بشيء
