The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The standard of weight is the weight of the people of Mecca, and the standard of measure is the measure of the people of Medina."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا ابن دكين حدثنا سفيان عن حنظلة عن طاوس
قال رسول الله ﷺ الوزن وزن أهل مكة والمكيال مكيال أهل المدينة
Its isnad is daif. Nasai narrated it in the chapter on zakat, in the section on how much a saa is, hadith 2521b and 4598, from the hadith of Abu Naeem Fadl bin Dukayn, with this chain, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 1105, as did Ibn Mulaqqin in Tuhfat al-Muhtaj, hadith 927. Sufyan Thawri used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana).
