I entered Islam and my religion weighed heavily on me, so I came to Abu Dharr.Abu Dharr said, "Madinah did not agree with me, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that I be given some camels and sheep, and he said to me, 'Drink from their milk.'"Hammad said, "I am uncertain whether he also said 'and their urine.'" These are Hammad's words.Abu Dharr continued, "I used to be far from water, with my family accompanying me, and I would become in a state of major ritual impurity, so I would pray without purification. I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at midday while he was sitting with a group of his companions in the shade of the mosque."Abu Dharr said, "I said, 'Yes, I am ruined, Messenger of Allah.'"He asked, "What has ruined you?"I said, "I used to be far from water, with my family accompanying me, and I would become in a state of major ritual impurity, so I would pray without purification."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that water be brought to me, and a black servant girl brought it in a large bowl that was sloshing about, not even full. I screened myself behind my camel and bathed, then came back.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Dharr, clean earth is a purifier, even if you do not find water for ten years. When you find water, let it touch your skin."
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل أخبرنا حماد عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة
دخلت في الإسلام فأهمني ديني فأتيت أبا ذر فقال أبو ذر إني اجتويت المدينة فأمر لي رسول الله ﷺ بذود وبغنم فقال لي اشرب من ألبانها قال حماد وأشك في أبوالها هذا قول حماد فقال أبو ذر فكنت أعزب عن الماء ومعي أهلي فتصيبني الجنابة فأصلي بغير طهور فأتيت رسول الله ﷺ بنصف النهار وهو في رهط من أصحابه وهو في ظل المسجد فقال أبو ذر فقلت نعم هلكت يا رسول الله قال وما أهلكك قلت إني كنت أعزب عن الماء ومعي أهلي فتصيبني الجنابة فأصلي بغير طهور فأمر لي رسول الله ﷺ بماء فجاءت به جارية سوداء بعس يتخضخض ما هو بملآن فتسترت إلى بعيري فاغتسلت ثم جئت فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا أبا ذر إن الصعيد الطيب طهور وإن لم تجد الماء إلى عشر سنين فإذا وجدت الماء فأمسه جلدك
