The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was returning from relieving himself when a man met him near the well of Jamal and greeted him with peace. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not return his greeting until he approached a wall, placed his hand on it, wiped his face and hands, and then returned the man's greeting.
حدثنا جعفر بن مسافر حدثنا عبد الله بن يحيى البرلسي حدثنا حيوة بن شريح عن ابن الهاد أن نافعا حدثه
أقبل رسول الله ﷺ من الغائط فلقيه رجل عند بئر جمل فسلم عليه فلم يرد عليه رسول الله ﷺ حتى أقبل على الحائط فوضع يده على الحائط ثم مسح وجهه ويديه ثم رد رسول الله ﷺ على الرجل السلام
(Hasan) Reference: [its chain of transmission is hasan] Daraqutni narrated it: 1/176, no. 666, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Yahya Barlusi through this route, and Bayhaqi narrated it: 1/206 from the hadith of Abu Dawud through this route, and Munziri graded it hasan.
