The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no vow in disobedience to Allah, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Marwazi said, the hadith is actually the hadith of Ali bin al-Mubarak from Yahya bin Abu Kathir from Muhammad bin Zubayr from his father from Imran bin Husayn from the Prophet ﷺ. He meant that Sulayman bin Arqam made an error in it, and Zuhri took it from him and transmitted it as a mursal report from Abu Salama from Ayesha, may Allah have mercy on her.
This hadith is sahih. It was narrated by Tirmidhi in Vows and Oaths, chapter on what has been reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that there is no vow in an act of disobedience, no. 1525, and by Nasai, no. 3870, from the hadith of Ayub Ibn Sulayman, through him. Tirmidhi said it is rare, and Nasai said that Sulayman bin Arqam is a discarded narrator, though the hadith is supported by corroborating evidence.
