The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a servant is placed in his grave and his companions turn away from him, he hears the sound of their sandals."
حدثنا محمد بن سليمان الأنباري حدثنا عبد الوهاب يعني ابن عطاء عن سعيد عن قتادة
عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال إن العبد إذا وضع في قبره وتولى عنه أصحابه إنه ليسمع قرع نعالهم
Muslim narrated it in "Paradise and Its Delights," chapter "The deceased is shown his abode from Paradise or Hell," etc., no. 2870, from the hadith of Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata. Bukhari narrated it in "Funerals," chapter "The deceased hears the sound of sandals," no. 1338, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, with the same wording.
