Ali bin Abu Talib reported,
Do not be extravagant in shrouding me, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Do not be extravagant in the shroud, for it is stripped away quickly."

لا تغال لي في كفن فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا تغالوا في الكفن فإنه يسلبه سلبا سريعا

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Bayhaqi reported it, 3/403, from the hadith of Abu Dawud through this same route. Amr bin Hashim is lenient in hadith, Ismail bin Abu Khalid narrated with "an" (indicating possible lack of direct contact), and there is a break in the chain between Amir Shaybi and Ali
