The sons of Harith bin Amir bin Nawfal purchased Khubayb, for it was Khubayb who had killed Harith bin Amir on the day of Badr. Khubayb remained their captive until they resolved to kill him. He asked the daughter of Harith for a razor to groom himself, and she lent it to him.A young son of hers wandered over to him while she was unaware, until she came upon him and found the child alone with Khubayb, sitting on his thigh with the razor in his hand. She was struck with alarm, which Khubayb noticed. He said, "Do you fear that I would kill him? I would never do such a thing."
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Military Expeditions, chapter 10 after the chapter on the merit of those who witnessed Badr, hadith no. 3989, from Musa bin Ismail through this route. The hadith of Shuayb bin Abu Hamza is found in Bukhari, hadith no. 3045.
