Ateek bin Harith bin Ateek reported,

He is the grandfather of Abdullah bin Abdullah on his mother's side, and he reported that his uncle Jabir bin Ateek informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit Abdullah bin Thabit during his illness and found him overcome. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out to him, but he did not respond. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the words of return to Allah and said, "We have been overtaken regarding you, Abu Rabi."The women cried out and wept, and Ibn Ateek began to silence them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave them be. But when it becomes due, let no woman weep."They asked, "What is meant by 'becoming due,' Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Death."His daughter said, "By Allah, I had hoped that you would be a martyr, for you had completed your preparations."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has granted him his reward according to his intention. What do you consider martyrdom to be?"They said, "Being killed in the path of Allah the Exalted."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Martyrdom is of seven kinds besides being killed in the path of Allah. The one who dies of the plague is a martyr, the one who drowns is a martyr, the one who dies of pleurisy is a martyr, the one who dies of a stomach illness is a martyr, the one who dies in a fire is a martyr, the one who dies under a collapsed structure is a martyr, and the woman who dies in childbirth is a martyr."

حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك عن عبد الله بن عبد الله بن جابر بن عتيك

عن عتيك بن الحارث بن عتيك

وهو جد عبد الله بن عبد الله أبو أمه أنه أخبره أن عمه جابر بن عتيك أخبره أن رسول الله ﷺ جاء يعود عبد الله بن ثابت فوجده قد غلب فصاح به رسول الله ﷺ فلم يجبه فاسترجع رسول الله ﷺ وقال غلبنا عليك يا أبا الربيع فصاح النسوة وبكين فجعل ابن عتيك يسكتهن فقال رسول الله ﷺ دعهن فإذا وجب فلا تبكين باكية قالوا وما الوجوب يا رسول الله قال الموت قالت ابنته والله إن كنت لأرجو أن تكون شهيدا فإنك كنت قد قضيت جهازك قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله عز وجل قد أوقع أجره على قدر نيته وما تعدون الشهادة قالوا القتل في سبيل الله تعالى قال رسول الله ﷺ الشهادة سبع سوى القتل في سبيل الله المطعون شهيد والغرق شهيد وصاحب ذات الجنب شهيد والمبطون شهيد وصاحب الحريق شهيد والذي يموت تحت الهدم شهيد والمرأة تموت بجمع شهيد
