When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, the wives of the Prophet ﷺ wanted to send Uthman bin Affan to Abu Bakr Siddiq to ask him for their eighth share from the Prophet ﷺ.Ayesha said to them, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say, 'We are not inherited from. What we leave behind is charity'?"I said, "Will you not fear Allah? Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'We are not inherited from. What we leave behind is charity. This wealth is for the family of Muhammad, for their needs and for their guests. And when I die, it passes to whoever holds authority after me'?"
حدثنا محمد بن يحيى بن فارس حدثنا إبراهيم بن حمزة حدثنا حاتم بن إسمعيل عن أسامة بن زيد عن ابن شهاب بإسناده نحوه قلت ألا تتقين الله ألم تسمعن رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا نورث ما تركنا فهو صدقة وإنما هذا المال لآل محمد لنائبتهم ولضيفهم فإذا مت فهو إلى ولي الأمر من بعدي
