Abu Maryam Azdi reported,

I came in to see Muawiya, and he said, "What a pleasant surprise to have you, Abu so-and-so." This is an expression the Arabs use.I said, "I have come to tell you a hadith I heard. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever is placed by Allah عز وجل in charge of any of the affairs of the Muslims and then shuts himself off from their needs, their hardships, and their poverty, Allah will shut Himself off from his needs, his hardships, and his poverty.'"So Muawiya appointed a man to attend to the needs of the people.
