He used to say, "The blood-money is the responsibility of the killer's paternal male relatives, and a woman does not inherit anything from her husband's blood-money," until Dahhak bin Sufyan said to him, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote to me instructing that I give the wife of Ashyam Dibabi a share of inheritance from her husband's blood-money." So Umar reversed his position.Ahmad bin Salih said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated this hadith to us from Muamar, from Zuhri, from Saeed, and he said in it that the Prophet ﷺ had appointed him over the Bedouins.

الدية للعاقلة ولا ترث المرأة من دية زوجها شيئا حتى قال له الضحاك بن سفيان كتب إلي رسول الله ﷺ أن أورث امرأة أشيم الضبابي من دية زوجها فرجع عمر قال أحمد بن صالح حدثنا عبد الرزاق بهذا الحديث عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد وقال فيه وكان النبي ﷺ استعمله على الأعراب
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, Chapters on Inheritance, chapter on what has been said regarding a woman's inheritance from her husband's blood money, no. 2110, and Ibn Majah, no. 2642, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna as narrated. The hearing is explicitly stated in Ahmad, 3/452. Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih, and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 966. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Nasai, 5/276, no. 5315, and elsewhere.
