I fell ill, and the Prophet ﷺ came on foot with Abu Bakr to visit me. I had lost consciousness and could not speak to him. He performed ablution and poured the water over me, and I came to.I said, "Messenger of Allah, what should I do regarding my property? I have only sisters."Then the verse of inheritance was revealed, "They ask you for a ruling. Say, Allah gives you a ruling concerning those who leave neither parents nor offspring" [Nisa 4:176].
حدثنا أحمد بن حنبل حدثنا سفيان قال سمعت ابن المنكدر أنه سمع
مرضت فأتاني النبي ﷺ يعودني هو وأبو بكر ماشيين وقد أغمي علي فلم أكلمه فتوضأ وصبه علي فأفقت فقلت يا رسول الله كيف أصنع في مالي ولي أخوات قال فنزلت آية المواريث {يستفتونك قل الله يفتيكم في الكلالة}
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, the chapter on Allah's saying, "Allah instructs you concerning your children, for the male a share equal to that of two females" [Nisa 4:11], etc., hadith no. 6723, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, the chapter on the inheritance of kalalah, hadith no. 1616, both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this chain. It is also found in Musnad Ahmad, 3/307.
