"If he leaves wealth, a bequest should be made for the parents and close relatives" [Baqarah 2:180]. The bequest was carried out in this manner until the verse of inheritance abrogated it.

{إن ترك خيرا الوصية للوالدين والأقربين} فكانت الوصية كذلك حتى نسختها آية الميراث
[Its isnad is hasan] Bayhaqi (6/265) narrated it from the hadith of Abu Dawud, through the same chain.
