The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive is considered carrion."
Its isnad is hasan. Tirmidhi narrated it in the chapter on hunting, in the section "What is Cut from a Living Animal Is Dead," from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Dinar, and he said, "Hasan gharib," and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 876, as did Hakim, 4/239, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has a supporting narration in Hakim.
